(NBMBAA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was established in 1970 dedicated to developing partnerships that result in the creation of intellectual and economic wealth in the black community. The organization focuses on five channels of engagement: education, career, leadership, entrepreneurship and lifestyle.
The mission of the chapter is to lead in the creation of educational opportunities and economic growth for African Americans by:
- Providing innovative programs that stimulate intellectual and economic growth;
- Building partnerships with key stakeholders who help facilitate this growth; and
- Increasing awareness and facilitating access to graduate management education programs and career opportunities in management fields.
Our scholarship program awards scholarships to outstanding minority students pursuing undergraduate, graduate management, doctoral or business degrees, while demonstrating strong leadership abilities and a commitment to their communities. Since inception more than five million dollars has been awarded to undergraduates, graduates and doctoral students nationwide. Locally, the Pittsburgh Chapter has granted nearly $600,000 in scholarships to deserving area students. The scholarship program was created to help identify and increase the pool of black talent for business, public, private and non-profit sectors. The program is supported by donations from our corporate partners, educational partners and members.
